Seriously, the time has gotten away from me, and really, with good reason. I update my LJ almost daily (unless sick), am working on two novels plus polishing Assassin's, run Dreaming In Ink, have at least three other journals I show up on occasionally, plus family and other life stuff. As you can imagine, I'm quite busy. So my intention was to update Alden.nu once a month, and things just got away from me, especially recently. My husband and oldest daughter were in a car accident. They'e fine, the car is not, and since it was our only car, it has thrown quite a monkey wrench into our lives.
But mostly it's been the writing. Currently, I'm waiting for the last few betas of Assassin's, but have begun polishing it up and have even submitted it to a small press. I'm generally very pleased with how it's come out so far, and the responses I've received have generally been positive. My urban fantasy, Blood Charms is in its first round of revisions, and I'm enjoying playing with it. I'm still in the redrafting process when it comes to Quest For Ehlarayn, but I'm also not feeling in any rush with it at this point. If Assassin's doesn't sell, Quest would be a purely for me project. I don't mind purely for me projects, and I would like to finish the trilogy, but I also need to make sure to focus on projects that might eventually sell.
I've also started submitting my shorts again. Still not making them a huge part of my activity, but I've got a few things that have yet to be picked up and a few new things I'm working on finishing up, so I figured why not.
And I'm working on personal life things as well: trying to exercise more, baking our own bread (for health and money savings), helping my husband and oldest daughter with their college related things, and, as always, raising the kids, including a grand kid. It's a busy household, and I'm very fortunate to be able to find time to write. Some weeks are just not as writer friendly as others.
I have quite a few updates I need to do on Alden.nu—the projects page, the resources page needs a thorough link check, and, of course, Lessons and Meta need updates. I'll try to get to them, but patience will be needed. Got a lot on the plate, and I don't expect that lighten up much any time soon. As long as the writing keeps going, it's all good. :)
